Introduction
Chrysanthemum flower Show in Chandigarh, India is a famous flower show that is hosted every year at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33, Chandigarh.
This fair is usually held in the month of December. This year it was held from 11th December 2021 to 13th December 2021. I made a visit to this garden on the last day of the flower show. It was an amazing experience which I am going to share in this article.

Where the terraced garden is situated?
Terraced Garden is situated in Sector 33 of Chandigarh – the capital city of Punjab and Haryana states of India. It is located in Northern India.
When this garden was built?
The Terraced Garden was first opened for the public in the year 1979 and has grown in popularity since then.
This garden is spread in an area of 10 acres, is lush with greenery and provides scenic views.
It has various levels and the next level is higher than its previous one. Due to this reason, it is named Terraced Garden.
What can you do in this garden?
There are a number of things which you can do while in this garden.
It has two entry gates. At first, when you enter this garden you will see a landscape view of this place.
In the second part, you will find sparkling musical fountains which is also the main attraction of this place. Visitors click countless pictures and selfies here with the splashing water as the background.
Different kinds of flower varieties and green vegetation make this park mesmerizing. A number of people visit this garden on daily basis and spend their quality time in the lap of nature.
This park is an ideal spot for photography and collecting beautiful memories. People also spend their evenings here enjoying the fountain show.
You can also plan your picnic with your family on weekends.
On one side towards the underbridge, you can go to eatery shops for snacks and drinks.
This park is connected to other side of the road through an underbridge and that is the other portion of this terraced garden.
There is a “Martyr’s Pillar” at the terrace garden which has been erected to recognize the sacrifices of the gallant soldiers of the Armed Forces hailing from Chandigarh who laid down their lives for the Nation.
Details about Chrysanthemum Flower Show
Chrysanthemum flower show is organized every year in the month of December in this garden. As a part of the show, various competitions regarding gardening are conducted in which different city gardens participate.
Nature lovers and the general public participates in this flower show in significant amounts.
The combination of multicoloured flora was beautifully used to design fauna which was clearly evident in the show. Gardeners and participants in the show have made camel, peacock, cow, giraffe and many other animals and birds using flowers.
As its name suggests that it is the show of chrysanthemum flowers so you can find a number of varieties of chrysanthemum flowers.
A person who is interested in gardening and nature lover must visit this place to know more about flower varieties.

How to reach Terraced Garden, Chandigarh?
Chandigarh is well connected to other cities of India and easily accessible by various means of transport. You can reach Chandigarh by adopting any of the following means of transport:
By Air – International Airport, Chandigarh has daily flights from Delhi, the National Capital of India, and from other major cities of India. The Delhi to Chandigarh flight takes approximately 50 minutes. The airport is just at a distance of 10 km from Terraced garden, and you can easily book a taxi/cab/autorickshaw to anywhere in the city from the airport. You can book your tickets through Makemytrip.com or IXIGO app which I personally use.
By Rail – The Chandigarh Railway Station is situated just 8 km away from the city center and is well connected to the major cities of India. You can easily book a taxi/cab/autorickshaw to anywhere in the city from the railway station. For more information and booking the train, you can visit the official website of IRCTC or download the app IXIGO.
By Road – Chandigarh is well connected with roads to almost all cities of Northern India and bus service is easily available from all nearby major cities like Delhi, Shimla, Amritsar and Rajasthan. Ola and Uber’s cabs are easily accessible here. You can book your bus tickets through the Redbus app/website.
What are timings and ticket entry fees?
Although, it remains open for the whole day as local residents do their morning and evening walks inside the garden.
It remains open for all days of the week.
Entry is free of cost.
Whats is the best time to visit Terraced Garden?
The best time to visit this garden is from November to March as the weather remains cool and pleasant.
Moreover, if you can plan your visit for the 2nd week of December, then you can enjoy the Chrysanthemum Flower show. In other months, the weather remains hot and humid which is not suitable.
How was my experience?
I always love to spend time in the lap of nature and it was the best moment for me to have a visit to this wonderful garden.
I enjoyed the flower show which was on its last day. There were 269 varieties of Chrysanthemum flowers on display. I clicked numerous photographs. It was really a calm and mind relaxing trip for me.
Whenever you make a visit to Chandigarh then you should not miss this place.
